Mitarakis: Loverdos belongs to the European centre – The goal is the self-reliance of New Democracy
The Parliamentary Representative of the New Democracy and Member of Parliament of Chios, Notis Mitarachi, gave an interview today at noon in the show “10′ everywhere” on OPEN TV.
Regarding the allegations of interception, Mr. Mitarakis clarified that there is no evidence linking the Prime Minister to such practices, stressing that “there has never been any connection” and that all issues of this nature are dealt with institutionally and by law.
Commenting on the transfer of Andreas Loverdos to New Democracy, he noted that he is a politician who served the European centre and not populism, recalling their cooperation during the Samaras-Venizelos government, when a tough battle was fought to keep the country on the European path. At the same time, he stressed that today’s PASOK has turned in a different ideological direction.
As for the targeting of the New Democracy, Mr. Mitarakis was clear: “Our goal is self-reliance. We believe that with the policy we will implement until 2027 we will achieve this, as we did in 2023 against the forecasts.“.
Answering questions on the economy, he stressed the importance of a stable tax system that will boost investment, noting that the country has already achieved a 60% increase in investment and the creation of 500,000 jobs. He also highlighted the government’s interventions to protect citizens against abusive practices, citing as an example the recent regulation of banks.
He concluded by stressing that while Europe is facing pressure to cut spending, Greece, thanks to the government’s responsible economic policy, can continue to increase the real income of employees, pensioners and young people.
